West Glacier Community Wildfire information meeting

This year the Montana House is hosting the West Glacier community wildfire meeting as a part of the Wildfire Adaptive Community Plan development with the Gateway to Glacier Vision Project.

Due to the current coronavirus circumstances a safe meeting format will be followed as required. Social distance, masks, and hand sanitizer will be available if people don’t bring their own.

Topics to be covered include: personal readiness, neighborhood readiness, fire season expectations, and evacuation communication and procedures. You are welcome to send questions  and concerns to mthouse@centurylink.net ahead of time or post on the West Glacier Vision Mindmixer website at http://westglacier.mindmixer.com/topics/all.

Presentations will be made by representatives from Montana DNRC, Office of Emergency Services, Glacier National Park and the Forest Service.

FVCC – Glacier Gateway Public meeting

This is an opportunity for those who live in the greater Flathead Valley to participate and contribute to the discussion.

“The Glacier Park Gateway Project is a process to create a community vision
on how to maintain the unique and historic role that West Glacier has always
played with residents, businesses and the visitors to Glacier National Park.
The two public meetings will explore “sustainable tourism, alternative
transportation, wildfire safety planning and maintaining connective wildlife
corridors”.

Wildfire Information Meeting

Wildfire Information Meeting for the West Glacier Community – Evacuation and Neighborhood Readiness

The Montana House in Apgar Village is hosting a wildfire information meeting for the West Glacier community on Thursday, June 6 starting at 6:30pm. It will take place in the event room upstairs in the Montana House. Topics to be covered include: personal readiness, neighborhood readiness, forest types and health, fire season expectations,climate change, fire history, evacuation communication and procedures. Staff presentations and/or participating agencies include: Montana DNRC, Glacier National Park, US Forest Service, Flathead County Emergency Services and Coram-West Glacier Volunteer Fire Department. Questions and discussion points from the audience will follow the presentations.
