“Folk Rewind”, An Evening of Group Singing Led By Guitar Instructor Steve Eckels
at the Montana House on Friday, August 11th, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Montana House is hosting an evening sing-a-long on Friday, August 11th – 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. in the new Kintla Camp event room. All are welcome to join guitar instructor Steve Eckels who will lead group singing of great songs of the folk revival of the 1950s and 1960s. Selected music include songs made popular by Peter, Paul & Mary, The Kingston Trio, The Weavers, Pete Seeger, John Denver, Bob Dylan, The Carter Family, Lead Belly, Harry Belafonte, Woody Guthrie and many others. Song sheets will be provided. Steve invites participants to bring their stringed instruments for an old-fashioned hootenanny. In addition, he will perform several solo guitar selections from his albums American Sampler and Cowboy Classics.

Since the year 2000, Steve Eckels has taught high school guitar classes for the Kalispell, Montana school district. He is also the guitar instructor for Flathead Valley Community College. His formal training includes a Bachelor’s degree from Berklee College of Music, a Master’s degree from New England Conservatory, and a Music Education Certification from Northland College. He is active as a solo guitar performer as well as the leader of a 1950s rock and roll band, Zino & the Bel Aires.
